Applications Sales Specialist, Landfill
The Applications Sales Specialist, Landfill is responsible for driving growth in Arcwood's hazardous and non-hazardous landfill portfolio (Subtitle C and D), with a strong focus on consultants, industrial generators and project owners.

This role provides technical guidance on waste profiling, landfill acceptance criteria, and approval workflows, partnering with Regional Sales teams to win new remediation, special waste and industrial disposal projects.

Essential Functions & Requirements:

Technical Selling & Proposal Ownership



  • Owns landfill proposals, including profiling, acceptance criteria, disposal pathways, and transportation considerations leveraging templates created by Project Manager - Landfill
  • Recommends pricing exceptions when waste characteristics, volume, or handling requirements differ from standard parameters
  • Supports MSA/long-term agreement structures for landfill disposal programs
  • Joins customer and consultant calls to explain landfill capabilities, constraints, and acceptance requirements


Pipeline Prospecting & Hunting



  • Hunts for new remediation, soil, and special waste opportunities within a large geographic territory based upon the segmentation model set forth for the segment; nurtures leads following segmentation and targeting process and practice created by Project Manager -Landfill
  • Builds relationships with environmental engineering firms, consultants, state agencies, and industrial generators
  • Influences project specifications so Arcwood landfills are included in bid document
  • Represents Arcwood at landfill-related industry events, regulatory meetings, and environmental consulting conferences


Technical Expertise & Deal Support



  • Serves as a subject matter expert on landfill regulations, permitted waste types, liner/leachate systems, and special waste approvals
  • Guides customers through analytical requirements, sampling, profiling, and documentation
  • Provides technical support but does not own post-sale account maintenance


Sales Enablement & Cross-Functional Collaboration



  • Works closely with the Program Manager - Landfill to align value proposition, SOPs, acceptance criteria, and offer updates
  • Collaborates with Technical Services on complex approvals, PFAS-impacted soil, contaminated debris, ash, or industrial by-products


Forecasting & Performance



  • Owns the landfill segment pipeline and reports on approved tonnage, project forecasts, and win/loss performance
  • Tracks market dynamics (capacity, competitor pricing, regulatory changes) to inform commercial strategy


Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, engineering or related field (required)


Experience:



  • 5+ years of experience related to landfill operations, special waste approvals, technical environmental sales or remediation projects (required)
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with landfill operations, RCRA/CERCLA waste classifications and profiling workflows (required)
  • Previous experience influencing remedial design and project specifications (preferred)

  • Strong 'hunter' mentality with the ability to develop consultant relationships
  • Ability to utilize technical concepts to creatively solve problems and provide and manage effective solutions
  • Excellent ability to influence, negotiate, and build relationships in a matrix
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
