| ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP is looking for a Director, Wastewater Engineering to join our team. The position is virtual with frequent travel (50% to 70%) including overnight stays. The Director of Wastewater Engineering provides strategic and technical leadership for all wastewater-related engineering initiatives across the ESG platform. This role ensures the successful development and execution of wastewater projects by aligning technical excellence with business objectives, customer expectations, and financial performance. The Director leads a high-performing team of engineers, drives innovation in wastewater solutions, and collaborates cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Project Development teams to deliver best-in-class outcomes. This position also plays a key role in standardizing engineering practices, mentoring talent, and contributing to ESG's broader engineering strategy. The essential functions of the position include: 
  
 Provide strategic direction and leadership for Wastewater Engineering initiatives across the organizationLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, supporting career development, succession planning, and professional trainingEstablish staffing needs and ensure balanced project assignments among team members, considering skill fit and workload distributionManage, direct, and coordinate the Wastewater Engineering group to ensure projects are on schedule, within budget, and aligned with business goalsEstablish and track KPIs related to engineering quality, cost, schedule, and customer satisfactionStandardize engineering workflows and documentation by developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Wastewater Engineering teamDrive innovation by exploring and incorporating emerging technologies and industry trends into designsEnsure compliance with ESG engineering methodologies, safety standards, and regulatory requirementsDevelop and approve technical documentation, including conceptual designs, construction documents, and commissioning plansReview and approve treatment plant design, process performance, and equipment sizing to meet client deliverablesCollaborate with Sales, Business Development, and Operations for seamless project transitions and alignment with customer goalsFacilitate internal and external communication through clear technical documentation and risk assessmentsWork with Project Managers and delivery teams to ensure proper equipment procurement, delivery, installation, and constructabilitySupport Wastewater Performance Engineers in responding to RFIs during project development and delivery phasesMaintain full technical understanding of energy systems and facility operations throughout the project lifecycleServe as a subject matter expert (SME) and technical consultant for internal teams and external clientsRepresent ESG at industry events and client engagementsLead the development of scope of work, cost estimates, and energy savings calculations, ensuring accuracy and financial viabilityAssist in the selection and approval of equipment, suppliers, contractors, and sub-consultants in alignment with project requirements and procurement standardsSupport training, customer presentations, and technical support efforts as neededPerform related work as required
 Your background includes: 
  
 Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited Engineering/Technology program or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or equivalentTen (10) to fifteen (15) years' experience with a water/wastewater design firm or construction firm with water/wastewater construction projectsProfessional Engineering License (PE)Prior management experience
