Position Description
The Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Iowa invites applications for a full-time academic-year clinical-track faculty position in the Elementary Education program. The successful candidate will be hired at the rank of assistant, associate, or full clinical professor. The clinical track at the University of Iowa has a career progression that includes promotion (assistant, associate, full professor). The College of Education provides support for clinical faculty in professional development, conference travel, and scholarship related to clinical faculty members' areas of work. The position will begin August 19, 2026. Clinical faculty are expected to teach the equivalent of 3-4 courses per semester and engage in other program-related responsibilities such as curriculum development, school partnerships, and area coordination. This position involves a strong focus on school partnerships and practicum experiences within the Elementary Education Program. Practicum experiences emphasize core subject areas such as literacy and mathematics, preparing teacher candidates to apply instructional practices in a variety of classroom settings. We seek applicants who actively collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and the community to foster education that prioritizes access, opportunity, and belonging for all those involved in the growth and development of students. Faculty are required to collaborate with K-12 teachers for at least four hours per semester, contributing to instruction in classroom settings. They will also participate in service activities to the program, department, college, and university. Salary

The Department of Teaching and Learning (T & L) at the University of Iowa includes over 43 faculty members and 800 students. The Elementary Education Program provides instruction to over 500 students each year. The program includes four literacy courses and a reading practicum; three mathematics-focused courses that address content, instructional methods, and include an embedded practicum; as well as additional content, content-methods courses, and informal field experiences. In total, the program incorporates over 80 hours of field-based experiences.
