Founded in 1989, Desert Lumber and Building Materials supplies customers with specialty building materials from multiple locations across Las Vegas, NV. Operations that include 2 Lumber Yards, Floor and Roof Truss Manufacturing, Desert Fasteners, and Desert Window Systems.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team.
The Estimator will be responsible for performing detailed material take-offs and assisting our sales team to create accurate estimates for lumber, hardware, windows, and related building materials. This role is critical to support our sales team and customers with precise and timely estimates that will ultimately lead to successful project execution. For the right candidate, this position also offers future opportunities for management or department head roles within our growing company.

Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret residential and light commercial construction blueprints.
- Perform detailed material take-offs for lumber, engineered wood products, hardware, and windows.
- Develop accurate and timely estimates for single-family, multi-family, and light commercial projects.
- Collaborate with sales and purchasing to ensure estimates align with product availability and customer needs.
- Assist in preparing proposals, bid packages, and supporting documentation.
- Stay current with industry practices, building codes, and material innovations.
Qualifications:
Required: Proven experience as an estimator in the lumber/building materials supply industry.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
- Hands-on experience with material take-offs for lumber, hardware, and windows.
- Knowledge of single-family, multi-family, and light commercial construction projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required; experience with industry-specific estimating software helpful.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Well versed in market specific product knowledge.
