Job Summary

Responsible for the management of a portfolio of health plan products for the Commercial Group line of business within the Employer Solutions division of Priority Health. Supports business growth and retention by partnering with peers, managers, and cross-functional departments to proactively identify product and market opportunities. Grow into a knowledgeable resource for assigned health plan product portfolio, including understanding product performance, updates, and planning activities. Provides effective status reporting, helps identify and resolve issues, and contributes to team discussions and decision-making process. Coordinates and provides support for important product-related initiatives and processes across the product management team and other internal stakeholders - including sales quoting tool updates, annual large and small group filings, cross-functional product training, enhancements to health plan benefits, and legal and marketing document updates and auditing. This position works closely with areas throughout the company, including Product Management and Development, Product Delivery, Market Solutions, Legal, Actuary, Underwriting, Sales, Operations, and Marketing. The ideal candidate is comfortable and thrives working independently and with self-direction, proactively taking ownership and initiative while understanding collaboration with internal teams is essential for success. Candidate is also successful at managing multiple tasks, has a growth mindset, is analytical and detail oriented, and embraces continuous learning.

This is an entry-level role for candidates with desire to grow into health plan product management and strong attention to detail. This role focuses on managing and supporting health plan products and benefit structures, including performance monitoring, documentation, filing, cross-functional coordination, enhancements, and sales support and training. This is not a digital product or software development role and does not involve software engineering, coding, or IT systems. This position is hybrid with the expectation of being on-site at Priority Health in Grand Rapids, MI multiple times per week. There will be flexibility to work remotely or from the office on other days based on specific tasks, meetings or personal preferences.

Essential Functions
  • Understand and monitor all aspects of assigned health plan product portfolio performance, including membership, utilization, profitability, and operational impact.
  • Assist with maintaining and supporting the health plan portfolio. Help identify and solve problems and apply sound judgement to support product and team goals.
  • Develop deep knowledge of assigned health plan product portfolio, benefit designs and key processes to be a resource for the organization; support the sales team through consulting and guidance on product features and positioning; respond timely and thoroughly to product related questions.
  • Support and help facilitate large and small commercial group filing processes, including coordination of benefit design and product menu updates, completion of required templates, and collaboration on legal document edits and audits.
  • Effectively plan, coordinate, and lead group discussions with key stakeholders and business partners to solicit feedback and implement updates and improvements pertaining to assigned health plan portfolio and processes.
  • Support planning and documentation of updates to assigned health plan products, including timelines and lifecycle activities.
  • Support multiple product-related tasks independently and through coordination with internal teams with a focus on operational accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Present and provide training for varied departments and all levels of the organization.
  • Develop and manage marketing materials and resources for assigned portfolio.
  • Provide administrative, coordination, and task-based support to senior product managers as required, including meeting setup, follow-up, timeline tracking, and research.
  • Seek opportunities to expand knowledge beyond assigned portfolio, learn from more experienced product managers, and invest in professional development.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1 year of relevant experience working in health care, business, product management or product development

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in health care or business administration
  • Experience working with and knowledge of health plan products and benefit design structures
  • Experience and familiarity with lifecycle management activities and regulatory processes
  • Experience auditing spreadsheets, legal documents, and completing analytical, detail-oriented work
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Time management and organizational skills. Self-directed with a high level of initiative and strong problem-solving skills. Ability to make quality, independent decisions. Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions. Ability to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality. Ability to listen to others. Competency in the use of a variety of computer hardware and software systems.
