Overview

This is a hybrid role (if located in San Francisco, CA, New York, NY, Raleigh, NC or Portland, OR) with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.

This Senior Community Strategist position develops, executes, and provides counsel related to external communications strategies that convey corporate priorities and brand-consistent messaging, and manage our reputation. This role is specifically in support of Commercial Banking business lines. Helps drive the timely, effective communication of company. Partners closely with business leaders and project teams to advise and recommend the channels, messaging, and timing needed for effective communication and the overall success of strategic projects. Maintains a strong current knowledge of industry trends and best practices. Provides consultation across departments on complex communications needs.

The position will report to the Director of External Communication for Commercial Banking.


Responsibilities

* Communications Strategy - Helps drive the strategic development and management of comprehensive communications on behalf of Commercial Bank businesses . Assists with developing communication plans for business projects, executive-level messaging, news events, and other content with significant impact on perception. Maintains a strong knowledge of communication trends, best practices, and strategies through industry events and research.

* Media Relations - Manages proactive and reactive media engagement, including developing talking points and briefing materials and prepping spokespeople, direct interaction to pitch and respond to media and developing media-specific materials such as fact sheets, news releases, etc.

* Consultation - Ensures effective, timely, and consistent communications through expert consultation with business leaders, project teams, and internal partners. Advises on effective communications methods and channels to reach targeted audiences. Provides written and editorial consulting services to ensure communications are concise, consistent and relevant to audiences. Helps analyze the results of communication initiatives and tactics to identify areas of improvement.

* Project Management - Leads or participates in business initiatives to guide communication planning and execution. Ensures cohesive, timely communication efforts in alignment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.

* Collaboration - Collaborates with internal, external and agency constituents to develop knowledge of Bank issues, priorities, and content subject matter. Serves as a liaison between lines of business in coordinating communication strategies and initiatives.

* Content Creation - Creates, edits, and reviews content geared toward specific audiences. Fosters audience engagement through concise, effective content. Evaluates associate-produced communications as well as internal requests for new content.


Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Communications and professional writing OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Communications and professional writing

Preferred Skills:

* Self-motivated PR professional
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
* Adept in managing multiple projects at one time and has a background in public relations.

Preferred Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's degree - Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business preferred
* 7-10 years in a communication or public relations role
* 4-5 years' experience in commercial banking, financial services preferred
* Prior PR agency experience

If hired in California or New York the base pay for this position is generally between $120,000 and, $155,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
