Duties: Manages, analyzes, initiates, and controls all phases of fresh pork production for a line which processes over 400,000 pounds of products each day in a pork processing facility. Apply lean manufacturing to ensure workflow optimization. Optimize product quality, specification and yields according to the standards established by the Company and the plant's industrial engineer. Investigate, identify and resolve operational constraints in the process. Analyze line processes and equipment to ensure high quality products are produced consistently. Ensure daily production schedules are attained. Ensure accurate record of staffing and time worked. Monitor GMP and SOP. Supervise all employees, monitoring work performance, directing work, ensuring accurate timekeeping, and ensuring team members are trained and qualified and performing duties safely. This position is a hands-on supervisor role, managing over 30 employees and coordinating line activities and tasks to complete, improve and maximize product yields and efficiencies, workflow optimization and staffing deployment. Ensures product quality and food safety standards are met as well as maintaining a safe work environment for employees. The production engineering supervisor will manage all production and engineering activities on the butt, loin, or belly lines. The position will work with automation and equipment including automatic butt puller (Morrell), automatic loin puller (FrontMatec), automatic belly trimmer (FrontMatec), automatic rib puller (FrontMatec), and seal machines (Cryovac). Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field and one year of related experience. Experience applying a systematic approach and engineering principles including lean manufacturing. Experience ensuring product quality and food safety standards are met. Experience tracking daily data to impact and maximize line performance. Experience maintaining accurate records to assure consistency of product quality. Experience with documentation of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). Experience maintaining accurate records for USDA and working with USDA regulations. Experience required monitoring GMPs and SOPs. Requires a demonstrated ability to use key performance indicators and analyze their impact on operations. Must have experience maintaining a safe work environment for employees. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must have good English communication skills. Must be able to work weekends as assigned by management. | |
