Engineered Components Engineer I/II
Overview The VIRGINIA Class Propulsion Plant Engineered Components section consists of two groups: 1. Steam Valves and Heat Exchangers and 2. Pumps. These groups are responsible for developing sound technical solutions to emerging construction problems arising at new construction shipyards (Electric Boat's Groton Shipyard and Quonset Point Manufacturing Facility as well as at Huntington Ingalls Industries - Newport News Shipbuilding). Additionally, the VIRGINIA Class Propulsion Plant Engineered Components groups, as the lead design yard, are responsible for maintaining the design and procurement requirements, qualification testing, delivery, and construction integration of their respective component(s), and providing technical oversight and sound engineering recommendations to the supply base, including primary and sub-tier vendors. Responsibilities of this position include:
Proactive engagement with vendors, both remotely and on-site, to assist in the development and implementation of manufacturing process changes to overcome barriers and clear bottlenecks to ensure on-time in-yard delivery.
