In the role of an Associate Director of Development you will be working in ourInstitutional Advancement Department.

As an Associate Director of Development, you will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual gift prospects. This role works closely with faculty, staff, and volunteers to secure commitments at the $10,000-$100,000 level in support of research, education, capital, and patient care initiatives supporting Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin programs.


Primary Functions

  • Understand the mission and philanthropic priorities of Froedtert Hospital, Froedtert Hospital Foundation, and the Medical College of Wisconsin and work collaboratively across the organizations and departments to build on our collective success. Comprehensive understanding of philanthropic priorities including research, education, community, and clinical care priorities.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, including grateful patients. Qualify prospects and work with donors through the donor's lifecycle; work collaboratively to transition high-capacity donors to major gift portfolios, effectively generating a pipeline of new major level donors annually. May also work with annual giving solicitations for faculty, staff, and alumni giving campaigns.
  • Pursue giving opportunities that align clinical/research needs with donor interests and the overall strategic priorities of Froedtert Hospital, Froedtert Hospital Foundation, and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Creatively develop and implement innovative strategies for the successful qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of gifts.Serve as a point of contact for the Eye Institute, working with the department chair and faculty, to identify and cultivate prospective donors.
  • Utilize predictive data analytics, assess prospects, and develop and execute strategies to realize the current and lifetime giving potential of prospects.
  • Ability to raise donor sights, articulate aspirational goals and ideas, set priorities, present philanthropic opportunities, and close gifts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with volunteer leadership, faculty, clinicians, and staff associated with his/her portfolios and educational programs. Meet with colleagues across campus to coordinate and execute strategies, utilizing experience and knowledge to build consensus.
  • Make persuasive verbal and written cases for supporting these key priorities, effectively aligning the interests of prospective donors to organizational priorities.
  • General understanding of principles and techniques associated with planned giving and estate gifts. Work collaboratively with Planned Giving colleagues to cultivate, solicit and steward planned gifts.
  • Participate in advancement activities and events, including dinners, receptions, and other fundraising initiatives.
  • Review and ensure overall accuracy of his/her portfolio in database. Record proposals and actions about prospects and donors in a timely fashion in database.
  • Accountable to annual individual performance goal metrics as well as strategic goals and objectives of department.

  • Demonstrated analytic and strategic thinking capabilities. Experience with fundraising database software and Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • A highly developed ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information related to both alumni and donors, as well as employees.

Position Requirements:

Appropriate experience experience may be substituted foe education on an equivalent basis

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Required Experience: 2 years

Preferred Education: 4 years

Preferred Experience: Healthcare or academic system; fundraising and successful track record securing four and five-figure gifts.

Minimum Qualifications: Experience in relationship management with externally facing constituents.

Preferred Qualifications: Successful track record securing four-figure gifts
