Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking a talented, detail-oriented, and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Accounting Technician for a full-time temporary position within the Finance and Administration Division.

The Department of General Services directly supports County residents and government operations by providing responsive and effective emergency and essential public works support, facility and fleet acquisition, transit operations, operation and maintenance, solid waste management, environmental compliance, stormwater management, and internal services.

Duties for this full-time position include, but are not limited to:
* Matching invoices to County-issued purchase orders
* Reconciling accounts against purchase orders
* Reviewing and preparing invoices/receipts for payment
* Processing payments into the County's Account Payable (A/P) system
* Researching and resolving past due invoices, including making necessary corrections and responding to vendor inquiries
* Reviewing fiscal accounts, records, and transactions for accuracy and compliance
* Providing operational and administrative support across the department
* Maintaining detailed and audit-ready financial files
* Assisting with answering the department's information line, greeting visitors, and sorting mail
* Collaborating effectively with County staff and vendors to ensure timely execution of financial processes and projects
* Performing other essential duties as assigned in support of departmental operations

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

This full-time temporary position is currently approved through June 30, 2026, with the possibility of an extension.


Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma and three (3) years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Prefer experience with Oracle, MS Office, and/or Laserfiche. Experience working with contracts is a plus.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

A valid driver's license is required. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check to include criminal, credit, and DMV records.

Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. Eligible for up to one (1) telework day per week after three (3) months of employment, pending performance and supervisor approval.
