Job Summary

The Admissions Coordinator for the UCSF School of Medicine plays a crucial role across the entire application cycle in numerous areas. The primary responsibility of the coordinator is oversight of the interview process for all medical school applicants. This position involves coordinating a large volume of interviews, assigning committee members, and working closely with the Admissions Specialist to develop and implement the interview schedule and policies. The coordinator is responsible for maintaining committee contact information, facilitating communication regarding interviews, and ensuring timely submission of interview reports. Additionally, the role includes compiling statistical reports and managing specialized interview arrangements for various unique programs affiliated with the UCSF School of Medicine.

Beyond interview scheduling, the Admissions Coordinator provides essential information and support to prospective students regarding admissions requirements, policies, procedures, and financial aid. They maintain accurate applicant records in the admissions database, assist in organizing Admissions Review Committee meetings, and update applicant statuses with the UCSF Registrar. Outside of interview administration, the coordinator also handles finance and accounting tasks for the Office of Admissions, including reimbursements, accounts payable and budget reconciliation support. They engage in recruitment activities, representing the school at admissions events, and supporting the Associate Dean for Admissions with administrative duties including calendar management, expense reimbursement, travel arrangements and general correspondence. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $58,100 - $123,500 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Office of Medical Education collaborates with diverse stakeholders to lead UCSF's MD Programs by promoting innovation and excellence among all learners, faculty, and staff. Together, we shape the future of patient care, research, education, and public service to improve health for all. The Office of Admissions/Student Experience Team is part of the larger Medical Education Unit. The Office of Admissions works closely with the School of Medicine Admissions Committees and unique program leadership to process over 10,000 applications annually and ultimately enroll a class of 181 new medical students annually.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum 1+ years of directly relevant experience required.
  • Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
  • Working knowledge of UC, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to prospective applicants and the public.
  • Working knowledge of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs at UC.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations and other institutions.
  • Working knowledge of admissions requirements for campus/school / college.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
