The starting rate of pay for this position is expected to be $20; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience between $20 and $25.

SHIFT SCHEDULES AVAILABLE:

  • 2-2-3, 12 hour schedule on days (6:00AM-6:00PM) or nights (6:00PM-6:00AM). Must be available to work weekends and Holidays.

JOB OVERVIEW:

In this press operator role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting press machines to print directly on our customer's products. Also, Mount plates in designated work station as needed along with being responsible for the Hazardous Waste program. This position performs hazardous-waste duties and must complete LGQ personnel training per EPA 40 CFR 262.17(a)(7). If duties affect hazardous materials shipping, then DOT 49 CFR 172.704 training also applies. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1200(h) HAZCOM training applies where chemical exposure exists.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO AS AN PRESS OPERATOR:

  • Machine operator responsible for setting-up, running, and troubleshooting production equipment
  • Responsible for understanding technical knowledge required in the manufacturing process
  • Focus on continuous improvement and productivity through teamwork
  • Monitor quality of product as press runs and monitor use of raw materials.
  • Change inks, coatings, papers, decks, configurations, methods, set-up and inspection.
  • Inspect quality of print, inspect quality of raw materials.
  • Clean plates, rollers, etc. and change doctor blades and make necessary adjustments such as laydowns and blade angles.
  • Clean backups, excess oils and grease.
  • Check and adjust mechanical parts such as gears, troubleshooting and detecting cause of problems
  • Production documentation
  • Perform housekeeping chores as needed, to maintain a safe and orderly work environment
  • Keep area clean and equipment in good working order
  • Ensure all appropriate paperwork if filled out accurately and completely. This includes, but is not limited to; production reports, ink usage sheets, QA reports and all others as assigned..
  • While also knowing and understanding the role in product safety.
  • Verifies and prepares cylinders for the application of mounting cushion tape.
  • Applies cushion mounting tape per SOC information and department standards for workmanship.
  • Safely retrieve and replace plate cylinders to and from inventory.
  • Remove plates and cushion mounting tape as needed.
  • Prepares plates for mounting, including inspection, trimming, and underlayment of control targets or designated print areas based on SOC information and department best practices.
  • Mounts plates of each color on separate cylinders per department procedures. This includes mounting photopolymer plates in register with design rolls as needed.
  • Completes all production paperwork including order verification sheets, SOC information and any other documentation as required by department management.
  • While also knowing and understanding the role in product safety.
  • Attain DOT Hazmat Certification annually
  • Coordinate Empty Oil Drum Inventory and Purchasing
  • Coordinate the movement of Full & Empty Oil Drums through three designated storage locations
  • Coordinate the Labeling and Storage of all materials in XP Rated Rooms and Remote Hazardous Waste Storage to meet DOT and EPA Legal Specifications
  • Coordinate Hazardous Waste pickups are meeting the EPA 90 Day Storage Limitations. Ensure paperwork accuracy, collection and long term tracking.
  • Coordinate the Housekeeping and Storage Compliance Conditions of XP Rated Rooms and Remote Hazardous Waste Storage to meet DOT and EPA Legal Specifications
  • Complete the "Weekly Audit of Controlled Materials Inspection" per EPA Legal Specification.
  • Coordinate the Ordering and Consumption tracking for all EPA & DOT Controlled Materials
  • Publish the Monthly Tracking Report, "Ink & Solvent Usage Report" for outside reporting
  • Annually vet the government-mandated Tier II Report for Amcor
  • Annually vet the storage of all Hazardous Materials with Map Placement Verification.
  • Participate in all EPA & DOT Inquiries and Investigations
  • Participate in all outside non-governmental inquiries to our Hazardous Materials Controls Systems meeting Amcor Global Standards.
  • Coordinate the Site SDS Program, including the Training of employees
  • Order Consumable Supplies that are XP Rated for the XP Storage Rooms
  • Act as the Site Contact for inquiries on what Controlled materials are consumed on what line
  • Comply with all 5S and WCM initiatives (Cross Training, moving to the work)
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor or management

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Manufacturing experience or previous machine operating is required
  • Technical knowledge of press preferred, not required
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read a ruler
  • Basic computer skills
  • Demonstrates organizational skills'

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to push/pull 20-55 lbs
  • Ability to lift up to 50-60 lbs
  • Willing and able to stand and walk for an 8/12 hour shift
  • Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting
  • Frequent use of wrist and hands
  • Frequent stepping up and down from platforms
  • Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces
  • Able to read/see up to 1/16 of an inch
