Are you an organized, detail-oriented professional with a passion for payroll? David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA) is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join our finance team in Portland, OR.

In this role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring payroll operations run smoothly and accurately while having the opportunity to grow in a collaborative and supportive environment. As a Payroll Administrator, you will manage payroll data entry and employee communication, while partnering closely with HR and other cross-functional teams to support seamless payroll processes. You will also prepare reports, assist with manual checks, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Enter payroll data and perform administrative tasks to support payroll operations.
  • Respond to employee inquiries in the payroll email inbox and communicate payroll-related information effectively.
  • Log payroll processing items and ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Coordinate with HR and other departments to ensure smooth payroll functions, serving as a key partner between HR and ADP.
  • Prepare and run reports from ADP, ensuring data integrity and timely distribution.
  • Process manual checks as needed, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with wage garnishments, federal and state withholdings, and other payroll-related regulations.
  • Ensure all payroll processes are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow in your payroll expertise.
  • Manage time effectively to meet strict deadlines with accuracy and composure under pressure.
  • Demonstrate initiative by identifying process improvements and creative solutions to challenges.
  • Exhibit accountability in all payroll activities and uphold trust by maintaining strict confidentiality.
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of dedicated payroll experience
  • Previous experience with ADP payroll systems
  • Intermediate Excel skills (ability to read and correct formulas, work with extensive Excel workbooks)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a process-oriented mindset
  • General knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations, including wage garnishments and withholdings
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with payroll as a primary responsibility
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
  • Experience handling multi-state payroll
  • Education: Degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Work Location: This role follows a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office at our Portland, OR location.
