As an expert clinician, this position is responsible for the coordination of all services/systems to ensure an organized, multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of care to program patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
2. Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
EXPERIENCE
1. Five(5) years of nursing experience

1. Masters of Science in Nursing
2. Stroke Certified Registered Nurse through American Board of Neuroscience Nursing (ABNN)

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Assures the delivery of comprehensive care for stroke and spine programs through the coordination and provision of expert direct and/or indirect patient care.

2. Effectively assesses stroke and spine system issues facilitating problem resolution and intervening at an appropriate level.

3. In collaboration with the institute leadership, develops, implements, and evaluates policies, procedures, protocols/practice, and management guidelines, for the stroke and spine programs.

4. Serves as a role model and resource in the provision of expert direct and/or indirect nursing care by developing a comprehensive plan of care and evaluating interventions and outcomes.

5. Initiates multidisciplinary patient care conferences in collaboration with other team members.

6. Supervises collection, coding, scoring, and developing processes for validation of data.

7. Provides and/or coordinates stroke and spine education to nursing and hospital staff, other disciplines, students, community and patients/families/significant others utilizing teaching/learning strategies as appropriate.

8. Assesses needs, plans, implements and evaluates stroke and spine orientation and educational programs for nursing staff in collaboration with educators and directors.

9. Teaches and serves as a resource for in-services, continuing education and classes for non-nursing hospital staff and other disciplines. Also facilitates annual or biennial stroke and spine conferences

10. Develops, implements and evaluates stroke prevention programs in the community.

11. In collaboration with the medical directors develops implements and evaluates continuing medical education outreach programs.

12. Assures the effective delivery of telestroke and teleneurology services.

13. Evaluates the quality of stroke and spine care through a multidisciplinary Performance Improvement Program.

14. Provides clinical supervision to assigned staff.

15. Develops quality filters, audits and case reviews, identifying trends and sentinel events, and helping to outline remedial actions while maintaining confidentiality.

16. Manages, as appropriate, the operational, personnel, and financial aspects of the stroke and spine program.

17. Monitors federal and state legislative issues.

18. Provides clinical assistance in marketing efforts.

19. Represents the stroke and spine program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal care management.

20. Serves as a clinical leader in nursing practice within nursing services, the hospital and across health care settings

21. Provides nursing expertise through participation on multidisciplinary committees.

22. Provides nursing expertise and liaison with the pre-hospital care providers.

23. Integrates research into clinical practice setting.

24. Disseminates and assists in critique and interpretation of nursing research findings to facilitate utilization by nursing staff.

25. Identifies researchable questions in nursing practice and consults with the program evaluation and other resources in pursuing development of a research project.

26. Collaborates with other health care disciplines in the conduct of research.

27. Develops operational and capital budgets for areas of responsibility in conjunction with hospital administration. Plans budgetary needs for each area and oversees the revenue and expenses throughout the year.

28. Selects, hires, manages and evaluates the performance and effectiveness of employees and facilitate the professional development of all staff to ensure clinical practice competence

29. Makes recommendations for preparation in planning and implementing change, maintaining and improving high quality patient care, and maintaining each assigned area as state-of-the-art as needed
