As a Corrections Barber Instructor, you will provide classroom and on-the-job training to inmates at the SCI Coal Township Barber School. You will develop and administer the barber training program, document inmate training progress, and ensure compliance with all policies pertaining to inmate grooming, including access to barber services. This role requires the ability to form effective working relationships and a genuine desire to help inmates learn the standard practices, methods, and techniques necessary to excel in the barber trade. In addition, you will schedule inmate students to take the Barber License test, requisition all materials and supplies used during classroom instruction, and maintain the barber school in accordance with all laws, regulations, and guidelines.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

• You must be in possession of an active Barber Teacher License issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Barber Examiners.

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
