Where Your Career is a Force for Good! The American Red Cross is seeking a Director of Development to support the National Capital and Greater Chesapeake Region. (Northern Virginia, DC, Suburban Maryland, Baltimore, and Delaware). This is a hybrid position. Incumbents will spend several days a week in the office and the remainder of their time in the field or in a home office. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: In this role, you will partner with the Chief Development Officer to lead a team of professional fundraisers in strengthening and growing the region's donor base to meet its assigned financial target of more than $20M. The Director of Development will provide leadership to the staff and volunteers in planning, managing, and implementing fundraising development strategies for the assigned segment(s) of giving. They will also assist in the cultivation of donors and sponsors to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets while maintaining their own portfolios. The Director is responsible for managing an assigned team including hiring, training, coaching, evaluating, and managing performance. This role is not eligible for relocation assistance. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED: Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Experience: Minimum 7 years of sales/fundraising experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Experience with increasing philanthropic revenue from diverse constituencies, developing and implementing broad-based fundraising programs, and knowledge of "best practices" in development. Management Experience: 5 years of management experience. Drive: A current, valid driver's license and a good driving record are required. WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE: Strong leadership/ coaching experience Proven fundraising experience in the Washington / Baltimore Region Effective relationship builder SALARY INFORMATION: The salary range for this position is $130,000- $145,000. Note that the American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific geographic location in which the work is performed. The stated salary range in this posting is an average. The specific salary information will be shared at the time of phone screening based upon your location and qualifications.
