| Job Description Summary |
The
LMS & Instructional Technology Administrator (
LITA) provides leadership, technical expertise, and day-to-day administration of Nazareth's Learning Management System (
LMS) -Moodle - and integrated instructional technologies. This position ensures reliable system performance, user support, data integrity, and continuous improvement of the
LMS environment to support high-quality teaching and learning across all instructional modalities.
As a member of the Teaching and Learning Technologies team, the
LITA works collaboratively with faculty, staff, IT, and leadership to ensure the
LMS supports the university's mission, accessibility standards, and best practices in digital learning. |
| Essential Functions |
System Administration & Maintenance
- Serve as the primary administrator for the institution's LMS (i.e.., Moodle, Canvas), as well as other educational technology including lecture capture (Echo360), ePortfolio (Watermark), and Respondus tools (LockDown Browser and 4.0).
- Manage user accounts, permissions, roles, and course enrollments in coordination with IT and Registration and Records systems.
- Oversee system integrations with student information systems (SIS), video platforms, and third-party learning tools (LTIs).
- Perform regular system maintenance, updates, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure platform reliability and data security.
- Monitor system performance and usage metrics; identify and resolve technical issues proactively.
- Serve as Nazareth's point of contact for education technology vendors and representatives.
- Maintain course archiving process.
Support & Training
- Provide Tier 2 support for LMS-related inquiries from faculty, staff, and students.
- Develop and maintain documentation, guides, and training materials for users.
- Collaborate with the Teaching & Learning Technologies team to support faculty in effective and innovative use of the LMS and related technologies.
- Coordinate or deliver workshops and one-on-one consultations on LMS features and best practices.
Quality, Compliance & Innovation
- Ensure the LMS and integrated tools meet institutional accessibility, privacy, and data security standards.
- Collaborate with campus partners to evaluate and implement new technologies that enhance teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Support reporting and analytics related to LMS usage, student engagement, and academic performance.
- Represent TLT in campus technology committees and advocate for instructional technology priorities.

| Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills |
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Instructional Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience administering an LMS in an educational or corporate setting.
- Strong understanding of LMS architecture, data integrations, and APIs.
- Demonstrated experience with user account management, data imports/exports, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with database management, scripting, or reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, or similar).
- Knowledge of LMS standards (LTI, SCORM, xAPI) and accessibility compliance (WCAG, ADA).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Commitment to equity, accessibility, and inclusive teaching practices.

- Master's degree in Educational Technology, Information Systems, or related field.
- Experience in higher education or academic technology environments.
- Familiarity with Moodle and Canvas administration and related server environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
