Life Sciences Center Job Description
The Research Specialist II will manage the daily operations and research needs of a biomedical research laboratory. This position plays a key role in maintaining the laboratory's mouse colony, conducting independent biochemical and molecular biology experiments, and assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) with advanced-level biomedical research studies. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate a high degree of technical expertise, independence, and initiative in supporting the lab's ongoing research objectives. Shift
Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with managing mouse colony, including breeding, tagging/training and genotyping using PCR-based method. Experience with cell and tissue culture, including culture of primary neurons would be a plus. Experience with light (wide-field and confocal) and electron microscopy (EM). Experience with preparation of mouse tissues for histochemical analysis, including experience with cutting tissue sections using cryostat and immunohistology staining of tissue sections. Protein analysis using western blot and mass spectroscopy. RNA-seq analysis. Anticipated Hiring Range
