The Institutional Portfolio Management (IPM) department drives strategic execution across the WGU System by coordinating portfolios of initiatives and programs that align with 5-Year Strategic Plans. We lead critical transformation efforts for executive leaders, design innovative business processes to boost productivity and scale, and proactivelyidentifyenterprise-level risks. The Role: Senior Business Process Engineer

As aSenior Business Process Engineer,you'llsit at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and impact. This is not a back-office process role.It'sa chance to architect the systems that will power how 180,000+ students learn, thrive, and graduate.

You'lllead some of WGU's most critical enterprise initiatives, including building our next-generationBusiness Process Management(BPM)system of recordand driving the maturity of process standards across the university. From enrollment to graduation,you'llown full end-to-end student journey domains - designing,optimizing, and continuously improving them. WhatYou'llDo

  • Lead transformation projectssuch as WGU's BPM maturity evolution - moving from Lucid to SAPSignaviotoestablisha centralized source of truth for all university processes.
  • Own andoptimizeentire student journey domains, taking accountability for 1-2 areas at a time and delivering measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and outcomes.
  • Shapeenterprise alignment, partnering with leaders in EdTech, Finance, and Institutional Analytics to create a unified, forward-looking process portfolio and strategy.
  • Harness analytics and AIto uncover process insights and create a nimble architecture that accelerates decision-making and execution.
  • Influence at the highest levels, presenting findings and recommendations to executives while driving buy-in across stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshopsthat clarifywhat'sbroken, surface opportunities, and move teams toward solutions that matter.

WhatYou'llBring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering(industrial, mechanical, manufacturing, service systems, chemical, aerospace) or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in business process engineering, improvement, or continuous improvement roles.
  • Lean Six SigmaBlack Belt certifiedor equivalent continuous improvement background.
  • Strong business acumen (finance, analytics, ROI quantification).

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Master's degree (Business Administration, OperationsResearch, Data Analytics, Engineering Management) or a closely related field.
  • Experience with BPM tools (SAPSignavio,Lucidchart, or equivalents).
  • Knowledge of business architectureand process classification frameworks(taxonomy,TOGAF, APQC, ArchiMate, businessprocess standards such as BPMN).
  • Familiarity with TQM and statistical processcontrol techniques(e.g., Minitab).
  • Proficiencywithdata analytics tools likeTableau/Power BI for visualization&insights.
  • Experience workingwith Product and Software Development teams (SDLC,Agile,etc.)

This is afull-time, in-office positionat WGU's headquarters inSalt Lake City, UT.

Position & Application Details
