Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for a Sr. Engineering Technician to design and create new cable drawings and BOMs for vendor fabrication and ECO release. The engineering tech will gather cable requirements and specifications, create detailed drawings and BOM, design review presentations, procurement of prototype parts, assist in proto system build and integration, and handoff to manufacturing. These tasks will require working with other engineering groups such as electrical engineering, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to ensure DFx are properly considered.

Additional Duties
  • Create interconnection and block diagrams as necessary

  • Install and route cables and fiber optics

  • Document procedures for cable routing for consistency

  • Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, and internal customers

  • Partners closely with cable and harness suppliers to ensure design requirements are specified and met within schedule

  • Address and resolve cabling issues throughout the product development phase

Preferred Qualifications
  • Must understand wire gauges, wire color, cabling signals including EMO, interlocks, AC and DC power, shielding and coordinate with EE for approval where needed

  • Familiar with connectors, wire crimping, labeling, tooling/wire-boards, length limitations with discrete wires and experience with fiber optics

  • Knowledge or experience with PLC wiring (Siemens, Allen Bradley)

  • Working knowledge of OrCAD, AutoCAD, Visio

  • Safety awareness/knowledge in working around AC & DC electrical power

  • Strong problem analysis and solving capability

  • Enjoy working on innovative technologies

  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to multi-task and work independently in a team

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a minimum of 4 - 6 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
