About The Role

Western Security Bank is hiring for a Portfolio Manager. The Portfolio Manager supports the commercial loan portfolio of one or more Commercial Lenders, providing quality underwriting, sound portfolio management and superior client service. Provides support to assigned Commercial lenders, by analyzing customer financial statements, tax returns, budgets, other financial data, appraisals, environmental, and Title documentation. Assists with Credit Memos for approval, and ongoing portfolio management to include but not limited to Annual Reviews, Problem Loan Reports, Covenant tracking and other required portfolio management documentation. Assists with all quality control (QC) functions as assigned by the commercial lenders or credit administration. The Portfolio Manager will have extensive contact with customers, vendors, the general public, and bank staff and will interact in a professional and courteous manner and conduct him/herself in such relationships in a manner that will enhance the overall efficiency and image of the bank.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the collection and analysis of financial statements, credit applications and other relevant documentation for loan underwriting and ongoing portfolio monitoring activities.
  • Spreads and/or analyzes financial information to evaluate the credit worthiness of new loan requests, renewal loan requests and ongoing Portfolio Management activities through thorough and accurate analyses within the parameters of the Bank's policies and procedures.
  • Provide informed professional opinions to the Commercial Lenders, regarding applicants financial/credit status, suggest loan structures and support the overall lending process.
  • Review all credit reports, title insurance commitments, appraisals, and environmental reports to ensure all documentation is complete and correct.
  • Assist in the preparation of draft credit memos, term sheets, proposal letters, and commitment letters as requested.
  • Monitors and services the large commercial loan portfolios of the supported Commercial Lenders and Senior Management as assigned through quality portfolio and pipeline management.
  • Attend loan committee as required, with ability to provide structural feedback to the committee.
  • Assist with all quarterly quality control reports, internal audit, external audits, and exams as assigned.
  • Performs annual term loan reviews and semi-annual reviews.
  • Assist Commercial Lenders with adverse and withdrawn files as requested.
  • Monitor compliance with loan agreement covenants.
  • Assist with all quality control (QC) functions as assigned by the commercial lenders or credit administration; including but not limited to loan operations QC, problem loan report QC, acquisition and development QC, risk rating QC, rising interest rate QC, annual loan review QC, underwriting QC, covenant QC, foreclosure/repossession process/OREO/OPPA QC, or any other QC requirements.
  • Assist Commercial Lenders in the collection and review of regulatory compliance items, not limited to but including CRA, Adverse Action, Regulation B and other regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Assist with daily business overdraft review and decisioning.
  • Work with Commercial Lenders in monitoring performance of individual credit relationships to identify risk and minimize potential losses.
  • Periodically accompanies Commercial Lenders on calls with existing and/or prospective customers as requested.
  • Continuously updates skills by participating in professional training and seeks opportunities to improve skills through cross-training offered by the Bank.
  • Works with assigned Commercial Lenders / Bank Officers to minimize past due loans.
  • Responsible for maintaining organized and current digital credit files. This includes updated personal and business tax returns and financial statements.
  • May assist Commercial Lenders with business development call preparation.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and any significant problems.
  • Work closely with assigned Commercial Lenders in a team environment.
  • Undertake special projects related to job function as determined by Credit Administration Team.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or any related degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years credit analyst, lending, or applicable banking experience required.
  • Advanced experience working with spreadsheets and reports required.
  • Previous experience with commercial lending and loan documentation preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

  • High degree of attention to detail as well as excellent organizational skill(s) to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have ability to prioritize and organize heavy workload(s) and demonstrate effective time management skill(s).
  • Must have the ability to work in a professional manner and consistently demonstrate courtesy, customer service, and tact in a fast-paced/deadlines-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately: perform effectively under pressure; meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines and make decisions based on regulation(s), company policy(s), knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skill with working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, ten-key, and general computer applications.
  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level. Must be capable of occasional travel (less than 10 days per year) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.

Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position.
