Job Summary The General Manager is responsible for the sales growth, retention of customers, customer satisfaction, profitability, operational controls, health and safety performance and regulatory compliance. - Manages and coordinates the activities of all personnel, property, plant equipment, and fleet engaged in the acquisition and processing of raw material and storage and distribution of finished goods.
- Responsible for the development of the management staff including Office Manager, Fleet Manager, Plant Manager and others who impact the performance of the facility.
- Ensures facility compliance with Corporate policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Develops, implements, and monitors annual plant budget; reviews monthly expenditures.
- Approves accounts payables ensuring all Corporate accounting procedures all followed.
- Recruits and hires plant, fleet, and administrative personnel; selects participants for management training program.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate wage rates for personnel subject to Corporate approval.
- Responsible for proper training of all employees.
- Monitors relationships with raw material suppliers; resolves issues when necessary; continuously monitors geographic area for new suppliers.
- Manages safety program and is ultimately responsible for plant safety; maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
- Responsible for plant transportation needs for both raw material and finished product, and for all modes of transportation used such as rail car, truckload, barge, etc.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 or more years working in a midlevel management position; experience must be in an industrial or plant setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the rendering industry a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in agri-business or related field preferred.
- Work well with others in a team-based environment.
- Communicates clearly both verbally or in written form; excellent analytical skills.
- Leadership ability; able to direct personnel.
- Requires minimum supervision; makes timely, accurate judgments regarding production and process quality.
- Highly organized; superior time management skills.
