POSITION SUMMARY: Conducts analysis and tests of various components of the quality control program comprised of data analysis, systems evaluation, product assessment, and quality technology. Documents quality issues and performance measures for management review. Responsible for implementation and maintenance of factory Net Content Program. This individual will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Industrial Engineering, Technical Services and other plant functional groups in training associates and monitoring/developing the Net Content Program. Performs a variety of quality control tests/inspections on products, materials, components, parts, etc. at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with quality and reliability standards. Records statistical data. Analyzes data and writes summaries to validate or show deviations from existing standards. Recommends modifications to existing, or suggests new, standards, methods and procedures. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain factory Net Content Control program in accordance with Nestle policy, and, Federal and State regulations.
- Lead and support implementation and maintenance of hardware/software for monitoring Net Content program.
- Provide technical support in troubleshooting process control problems, including root cause analysis to identify controllable sources of variation and subsequent corrective measures necessary for continuous process improvement, reduction in process variability and improve competitive quality costs.
- Develop and perform training as required to factory personnel in Statistical Process Control and Net Content policy and procedures.
- Maintain effective documentation and summary data. Prepare and interpret reports for use by management on a daily, weekly and Quarterly basis.
- Perform a variety of analytical/physical tests on finished products and Work in Progress as needed to maintain product quality.
- Act as positive release coordinator for co-manufacturers assigned to Burlington.
- Develop and maintain procedures and QMS as assigned. Perform regular audits of factory GMPs and NQS systems. Write and update Standard Operating Procedures for applicable items to position.
- Provide back up to QA Lab technicians as needed.
- Cross-train with other positions in the Quality Assurance department to help cover for absences.
- Perform special duties as assigned by Manager.
- Follow Burlington Factory safety & environmental objectives & targets, follow the plant safety rules, report unsafe conditions immediately, report incidents immediately or by the end of the shift, maintain compliance with regulations, and refer to the Safety & Environmental Management System(s) on all related procedures and programs.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
- B.S. Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related field, preferred OR equivalent work experience.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or equivalent certification or experience in Statistical Process Control and/or continuous process improvement, is a plus.
- Able to work flexible hours and cover off on all shifts when necessary.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years QA/QC experience in a food or pharmaceutical environment, preferred.
SKILLS:
- A thorough knowledge of Nestle Net Content policy procedures, NIST standards and Statistical Process Control is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in use of statistics SPC required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access required.
- Proficiency in statistical software is desired.
- Microbiological or Chemistry lab experience desirable.
