TITLE

Associate Director, Alumni Engagement

JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement is a creative, relationship-driven professional who will help lead TWU's efforts to build a vibrant, lifelong connection between the university and its alumni. The Associate Director will design and implement programs that foster meaningful alumni engagement, strengthen alumni pride, and create pathways for alumni to contribute time, talent and resources to TWU. The Associate Director supports the strategic goals of the Alumni Engagement Office by managing and executing alumni programming, developing communications, and supporting volunteer-driven initiatives. This position plays a key role in implementing alumni engagement hosted events and producing professional alumni communications while interfacing with the University Advancement operations team.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Senior Director of Alumni Engagement

Supervises: Assistant Directors, Managers, Student Workers, and Volunteers

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

  • Develop and execute alumni programs that increase engagement across diverse populations and generations of TWU alumni.

  • Plan and implement an annual alumni event calendar to include local and regional gatherings, professional networking opportunities, and signature alumni events like Homecoming and the Alumni Achievement Awards.

  • Provide detailed support and management of alumni hosted events throughout their internal development and external delivery.

  • Serve as a liaison to relevant academic units and campus programs to coordinate alumni participation in campus, local and regional events.

  • Supervise alumni volunteers and student workers in delivering high-quality programs and services.

  • Build alumni affinity through digital engagement, social media, newsletters and online communities.

  • Draft content, as needed, for newsletters, event invitations, web pages and other alumni communications.

  • Develop an annual marketing and communications plan and calendar to promote alumni events, showcase alumni achievements, and provide Alumni Engagement news, updates and announcements.

  • Coordinate with Advancement Operations (special events, data and marketing) for program execution.

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director to conceptualize and deliver events and communications that align with alumni interests and institutional priorities.

  • Partner with Advancement colleagues to strengthen alumni participation in philanthropy.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in a related field is required. Advanced degree strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of three years of professional experience in alumni relations/alumni engagement in a higher education setting; familiarity with Advancement.

REQUIREMENT

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

All employees share the responsibility of maintaining information security and privacy requirements within the university by adhering to Federal and State regulations, and TWU Policies & Procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - The following are essential:

  • Ability to be a team player with the ability to take direction and always communicate

  • with colleagues and constituents courteously and respectfully.

  • Must have the ability to multi-task and work in a high-volume environment.

  • Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to successfully develop and implement a robust and successful Alumni Engagement program.

  • Broad knowledge and demonstrated expertise in database technologies, including

  • familiarity with fundraising support systems such as Raiser's Edge NXT.

  • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms such as (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, etc.) and how to implement alumni campaigns.

  • Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to analyze data, monitor budgets and develop successful plans.

  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources and Risk Management within 24 hours of the incident.
