QUALIFICATIONS



  • Associates degree in accounting, finance , or related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years bookkeeping or accounts payable experience.
  • Able to type 40 wpm and 10 key at 10,000+ kph
  • Ability to be organized and handle detailed information in a clear manner
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing work environment
  • Ability to function without supervision, and demonstrate a professional approach to problem-solving
  • Must have good computer skills using MS Office with intermediate knowledge of Excel
  • Preferred to have one (1) year of experience, working knowledge of, or the ability to learn the Shelby Accounting System
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Leadership skills, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude and professional manner
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English. The ability to communicate in Spanish is an asset
  • Valid driver's license
  • Required to pass a background check


RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Oversee accounts payable functions and perform computerized check writing functions, if necessary. Code expenses, batch computer entries into proper accounting periods, and submit them to divisional headquarters for payment daily or as required.
  • Assists accounts receivable, including assisting with dual-person deposit operation, A/R data entry, and physical bank deposit transportation, deluxe deposits, and reporting.
  • Perform A/P for financial assistance accounts such as FEMA, RAPID REHOUSING, and SHARE programs. Be knowledgeable about the regulations governing these programs so they are strictly followed.
  • Maintain vendor records, including W-9s and payment terms, and respond to vendor inquiries.
  • Reconcile vendor statements monthly.
  • Update spreadsheets for monthly billing for each department.
  • Update O-drive with copies of the vendor checks for the Family Services Department.
  • Print reports every pay period for both the VOCA grant and the Mesquite location.
  • Input worked hours and wages for Mesquite employees based on the bi-weekly reports.
  • Calculate and reconcile SNAP expenses, ensuring the salary worksheet is balanced each pay period.
  • Collect invoices from each department and ensure timely processing for payment.
  • Assist the Director of Business on special projects as needed
  • Work with auditors in generating and providing detailed financial and accounting records
  • Interact professionally with individuals and groups having diverse backgrounds
  • Maintain staff relationships and work cooperatively with the Clark County Coordination Team and all Divisional staff
  • Perform other assignments/ duties as directed, as they relate to the position of Bookkeeper.

The employee must have the ability to operate a telephone, desktop, or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
