Who We Are:

Since 1906, New Balance has empowered people through sport and craftsmanship to create positive change in communities around the world. We innovate fearlessly, guided by our core values and driven by the belief that conventions were meant to be challenged. We foster a culture in which every associate feels welcomed and respected, where leaders and creatives are inspired to shape the world of tomorrow by taking bold action today.

JOB MISSION:

New Balance welcomes talented young professionals as part of its annual apprenticeship program, which brings new creatives and thinkers into the industry for firsthand experience and development.

The NB Archive is a global initiative responsible for preserving key assets and information from brand teams and partners across all regions and categories. The Archive manages physical and digital assets to promote innovation and growth.

Archive apprentice candidates are multi-disciplinary young professionals who are interested in research, curation, preservation, and amplifying the brand's global history and innovations. Interns and apprentices work in the Archive Lab at the Boston Landing headquarters, which is the hub of the global collections.

Each year, the class of apprentices participates in learning opportunities within and outside the brand, expanding skills and sharing interests. Along with the responsibilities of the role, each apprentice completes a personal project to showcase their interests and abilities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Research artifacts using internal and external sources, publications, and other tools.

  • Develop articles and datasets for internal use.

  • Assist designers, athletes, and partners with understanding and using the NB Archive.

  • Receive new acquisitions and deliveries, via mail and in-person.

  • Support cataloging and photography of the Archive collection.

  • Review samples from other teams and locations for inclusion in the Archive.

  • Data clean-up and validation in Excel and internal databases.

  • Support exhibits, visits, and research appointments in Boston and regional locations.

  • Scanning and photography of assets as needed.

  • Well-organized, tidy, and conscious of space usage. Our projects are super-organized with an eye for aesthetic touches.

  • Strong spelling, accuracy, and structure are key skills.

  • Projects may include solitary work and repetitive tasks.

  • This is a small department that often pivots to respond to needs. Flexibility with project priorities and goal planning.

Flexible Work Schedule

For decades we have fostered a unique culture founded on our values with a particular focus on in-person teamwork and collaboration. Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Our offices are fully open, and amenities are available across our North American office locations. To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced "Work from Anywhere" (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year. This model will help us enhance our culture while continuing to maintain elements of flexibility.
