Description

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Senior Biosolids/Energy Specialist with in-depth knowledge of solids process, solids and energy planning, and solids and energy innovations. Work will include process evaluation, trouble shooting, planning and programmatic consulting for solids treatment and energy production throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Candidate will utilize consulting expertise to organize, manage and execute work on projects and to help ensure successful client relationships. In addition, the candidate will be actively engaged in business development opportunities as well as research and development. The candidate will work closely with strong technical experts and other leaders in the company. Detailed Description:



  • Perform technical work with the Solids and Energy Specialty team on projects including solids processing and handling, biosolids end use, anaerobic digestion, biogas utilization, thermal dryers, and sewage sludge incinerators for municipal clients
  • Engage in process evaluations, optimizations and troubleshooting of existing facilities.
  • Understand regulations governing biosolids beneficial use at the state and local level.
  • Understand biosolids derived products and their general market applications.
  • Provide project quality assurance and quality control
  • Provide technical support to sales teams
  • Preparation of engineering reports and technical memoranda
  • Coordination and leadership of project team members and task leaders
  • Active engagement with clients to develop new work
  • Professional publication and Association involvement, particularly regional biosolids associations and biosolids committees.
  • Participate in improving company resources and tools to improve planning efficiency
  • Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings
  • Assist with business development pursuits
  • Mentor BC's next generation of junior-level engineers to become future leaders in the solids process treatment arena


Desired Skills and Experience:



  • BS degree in environmental science, geology, or soil science preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience should include evaluation of conventional and advanced treatment solids processes and ability to research equipment and technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of biosolids regulations and current issues surrounding PFAS preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and permitting
  • Strong project or task management skills
  • Successful technical presentation, proposal writing, and public presentations
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record may be required


Salary Range: Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location B: $117,000 - $160,000
