The Ultrasound department, also known as Sonography, specializes in imaging that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the body's internal structures. Obstetric Ultrasound: Monitoring fetal development during pregnancy. Abdominal Ultrasound: Evaluating organs like the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, and pancreas. Cardiac Ultrasound (Echocardiography): Assessing heart function and detecting abnormalities. Vascular Ultrasound: Checking for blood clots, blockages, or circulation issues in veins and arteries. Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: Evaluating soft tissue injuries, joint abnormalities, and fluid collections.

With limited supervision, provides health care services and departmental efficiency in the Ultrasound department using sonic energy to assist with diagnosis or treatment. Performs ultrasound related procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by Radiologist or a licensed independent practitioner. Supports imaging leadership with ongoing coaching/education of ultrasound technologists, assists with internal quality programs, and collaborates to recruit and retain talent. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Recognizes various patient conditions in order to provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of the exam or procedure.

Ultrasound Team Lead

Baptist Health is seeking an Ultrasound Team Lead to provide clinical expertise, lead a team of ultrasound technologists, and ensure high-quality diagnostic imaging. This patient-facing role involves performing ultrasound exams, mentoring staff, supporting quality programs, and collaborating with Radiologists and Cardiologists to deliver exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor ultrasound technologists and students

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams and produce high-quality images

  • Support quality assurance, accreditation, and protocol development

  • Manage departmental workflow, staff scheduling, and resources

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety, and infection control standards

Requirements

  • Education: Associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years as an Ultrasound Technologist; leadership experience preferred
  • Licensure/Certifications:
  • Active or eligible registration with ARRT, ARDMS, CCI, or RCS
  • BLS - American Heart Association
  • Must obtain registration (if not current) within 1 year and BLS within 90 days
  • Strong clinical judgment, leadership, and patient care skills
