About the Role:


The Engineer III in Security and SD-WAN Engineering contributes to the implementation, management, and support of network solutions crucial to Windstream's product offerings. You will work with requirements to support the performance and reliability of Security, SD-WAN, and related network systems. This role involves implementing configurations based on engineering designs, participating in testing, and supporting the deployment of network components, equipment, and software. You will provide technical support for complex issues escalated from operational teams, contributing to the enhancement of operations and maintaining system reliability within your functional area. This position requires collaboration with internal teams, clear documentation practices, and provides opportunities to grow technical expertise in advanced networking technologies. On-call duties will be required.


What You'll Do:



  • Handle escalated technical issues related to Security, SD-WAN, and their supporting components, collaborating with senior engineers for the most complex problems.
  • Implement configurations, participate in upgrades, and perform maintenance tasks within Security and SD-WAN environments following defined procedures and standards.
  • Implement and configure customer solutions based on established Windstream standards and architectural guidelines, assisting senior engineers or architects with design validation as needed.
  • Thoroughly document troubleshooting steps, incident resolutions, and contribute detailed findings to root cause analysis for service incidents.
  • Create and maintain clear, concise documentation for implemented configurations, network diagrams (as needed), and contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Contribute updates to the team's knowledge base, ensuring technical solutions and processes are well-documented.
  • Collaborate with Windstream internal teams to perform network audits and implement optimizations for customer network solutions under guidance, aiming to maximize service uptime and reliability.
  • Identify and report observed trends in network performance or escalations to senior engineers or management.
  • Execute assigned technical tasks and contribute effectively to project deliverables as part of a larger team effort.
  • Develop and maintain strong technical knowledge of security and SD-WAN product sets and associated technologies.


Do You Have:



  • Good understanding and practical experience with SD-WAN concepts and technologies.
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with network security principles and technologies (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, security policy).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies relevant to networking (e.g., KVM, SR-IOV, VMware).
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network and security issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to producing accurate and detailed technical documentation.
  • Associate's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field and 2+ years of relevant professional experience, OR 4+ years of relevant professional level related Engineering/Technical experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
