The engineering technician will support the tooling and operations groups with repairs, fabrication and machining services for tooling and equipment related to the manufacturing of composite details and assemblies. Working closely with the engineering team you will provide hands-on support utilizing your background in welding, machining processes and fabrication. He or she will have the ability to accurately assess issues and provide input to engineering for cost effective and efficient solutions while utilizing available resources. Attention to detail and a mindset for accuracy is critical when working on high precision tooling and equipment, while minimizing downtime in a production environment. He or she will have a safety mindset when performing tasks while adhering to our safety absolutes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Repair surface damage to layup mold, material is either invar or steel. Surfaces will have to be built up through welding and then machining/sanded/polished back into tolerance
- Replace broken drill bushings, locating pins or bolts to specific tolerances
- Make repairs or modifications to tools/equipment using a vertical mill or Lathe.
- Build carts for part conveyance out of 80/20, creform, or steel from a drawing
- Troubleshoot vacuum leaks on bagged tooling, using a helium leak checker or pressure gauges
- Replace broken/bent copper or steel vacuum lines
- Replace/grease casters on carts
- Use SAP software for assignment of tasks and dispositions
- Knowing and follow all OSHA and EHS-1050 requirements must be followed when performing all Tool Technician Tasks
- Perform & document, as required, procedures and instructions, in compliance with Preventative Maintenance requirements.
- Perform & document all tooling documentation in coordination with the Tooling Engineering department to ensure compliance with our customers.
- Understand and be able to use basic functions of Microsoft Office products and SAP
Shift Information
Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30
Experience/Education/Skills
Knowledge:
- 6+ years of previous trade experience in Tooling and or die maintenance required.
- 6+ years of previous trade experience in industrial maintenance required.
- Proficient TIG and MIG welding on various materials included, but not limited to: aluminum, mild steel, invar, 4130.
- Intermediate machining work, for example milling, drilling, tapping complex shapes and intermediate lathe work.
- Proficient Fabrication knowledge is required with the ability to read/understand mechanical drawings.
- Computer skills, willing to own closure of work orders and work to a priority list and create and utilize spreadsheets and required.
Skills:
- Uses a variety of hand, power and test tools and equipment.
- Experience with industry materials like 80/20 t-slotted aluminum, creform tubing, and welding invar.
- Ability to create, understand and interpret engineering drawings.
- Utilize tooling measuring devices required to inspect and validate components or tooling to tight tolerances required.
- Experience in clearly communicating project requirements, design concepts and project status both verbally and written

- Demonstrated history of creative problem solving in a team environment.
- Ability to manage and work to provided deadlines.
- Customer and operations focused.
- Energetic, self-disciplined individual with excellent hands on experience in a production facility who can work with minimal supervision.
- Need a good attitude and patience, must be able to work well and communicate with others.
- Moderate to heavy physical activity such as walking, standing, kneeling, and lifting is required on a daily basis.
- Results driven with attention to detail.

Education:
- High School Diploma or recognized equivalent
- Machinist certification
