Lubbock Academic Advisor 43074BR Psychological Sciences Position Description Performs academic advising, educational, professional, or other basic academic advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Work is performed under supervision with performance based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained. About the Department and/or College Founded in 1925 as one of the university's four original colleges, the College of Arts & Sciences is comprised of 15 departments, offering a wide variety of courses and programs in the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, physical sciences, and natural sciences. The College has more than 10,000 students enrolled representing more than a quarter of the overall Texas Tech University student population while maintaining a 22:1 student to faculty ratio. Major/Essential Functions 45% - Student Advising and Degree Planning: Meet with students and their families to assist in developing Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience using student information systems such as Banner, DegreeWorks, or similar platforms. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines. Experience in advising or mentoring students in a higher education setting. Familiarity with institutional policies and procedures related to academic advising, registration, and student retention. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; one year related experience. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, student affairs, or a related field. Previous experience in academic advising, student services, or higher education administration. Demonstrated commitment to student development and success through proactive engagement and support strategies.
