The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.
In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Students also have access to a robust program of applied research and outreach hosted by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station laboratories, farms, business incubators, and marine stations throughout the state. |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Unit Computing Specialist for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. The Unit Computing Specialist administers a set of faculty, staff, and instructor computers for the Office of Continuing Professional Education and other departments. This position would also provide reciprocal backup support to the supervisor in Martin Hall.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Assists with the daily operation of supported computer infrastructure, including PC's, Macs, mobile devices, VoIP phones, scientific lab equipment, classrooms, conference rooms, labs, file sharing, printing, and software support under the supervision of the Unit Computing Manager.
- Works with continuing education instructors to assist with instructional technology during their courses both in-person and virtual.
- Maintains currency in new developments and technologies.
- Conducts research on new technologies as requested.
- Assists faculty with finding and getting approvals for specialized software needs and navigating data security management issues as required by the university.
- Provides hardware and software support, installation and configuration.
- Provides desktop support and help-desk assistance for staff and instructors at the Office of Continuing Professional Education, Rutgers Gardens, Plant Diagnostic Lab, Turfgrass Center at Horticulture Farm 2, and Horticulture Farm 3.
- Acts as a liaison and helps diagnose issues with other team members on other IT related duties, such as network connectivity, phone system issues, email issues, cloud storage, distribution lists, and other applications used by the university.
- Collaborates with others in the SEBS/NJAES ITRS department as well as other IT groups to assist in the resolution of department incidents and requests.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Working knowledge of desktop software and operating systems currently in use with a combination of two years education/experience.
