Associate Sterile Processing Technician

The Associate Sterile Processing Technician performs routine work in the decontamination, assembly, testing, and instruments in a medical facility, under the supervision of the Supervisor of Sterile Processing.

This is the first level of a three-level series. It is distinguished from the higher levels by the absence of responsibility for performing advanced and complicated sterilization, assembly and testing of medical equipment, supplies and instruments. Employees in this level may be in training to perform Sterile Processing Technician II duties.

Please note the following important details regarding this position:



  • This is anonsite position, requiring daily attendance at the designated location.
  • Candidates must reside within commutable distanceof the following office location:
  • Texas: Lubbock
  • Flexibility to work a day, evening or night shift as scheduled
  • Must beavailable to work weekends and holidaysas scheduled, based on operational and departmental requirements.
  • Positions specified as "on call/per diem" refer to employment consisting of shifts scheduled on an "as needed basis" to fill in for staff vacancies


Required Qualifications:



  • Within 1 year of hire: ational Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association - OR- National Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Coursework/Training: Vocational training in Sterile Processing, decontamination/sterilization procedures, supply distribution or related job experience in a hospital, clinic, or medical laboratory.
  • Coursework/Training: Sterile Processing class, training, or vocational education.
  • CBSPD or IAHCSMM Certification upon hire.
