Entry-Level Residential Installer Location: Hartford, CT Category: Alarm / Security System Technician Launch Your Career in Telecom & Technology Looking for a hands-on role that opens doors to the telecom industry? This position is the perfect starting point for anyone interested in low-voltage systems, networking, and home technology. You'll receive paid training, work with modern security and surveillance equipment, and gain skills that can lead to advanced roles in telecom, networking, and smart home integration. Why This Role Is a Career Builder You will learn the fundamentals of low-voltage wiring, IP networking, and system installation. You will gain experience with security systems, CCTV, and access control-skills that transfer to telecom, AV, and IT careers. This role builds a foundation for future positions such as Network Technician, Field Service Engineer, or Telecom Installer. Key Responsibilities * Install and program burglar alarms, CCTV (IP and analog), DVRs, and access control systems in residential homes. * Add devices to existing systems and troubleshoot signal issues. * Install window breaks, door units, and smoke detectors. * Train customers on system use and answer questions. * Complete job paperwork and maintain accurate inventory. * Provide excellent customer service while working independently in the field. Training Program * Week 1: Classroom training at branch office. * Week 2: Field shadowing with a senior technician. * Weeks 3-5: Hands-on installations under supervision until you are ready to work independently. What We're Looking For * Interest in technology and willingness to learn. * Reliable transportation and punctuality. * Strong communication and customer service skills. * Professional appearance for residential settings. Bonus skills include wiring, cabling, construction, electronics, or mechanical experience. Requirements * Reliable vehicle with ability to travel within a 2-hour radius of Hartford. * Basic tools: 6-foot ladder (foldable recommended), drill, screwdrivers, wire cutters, sheetrock saw. * PPE and uniform polo provided. Schedule & Compensation * Shift: Tuesday through Saturday, starting at 8:00 AM. * Mileage reimbursement: $100 per week for gas after training (with receipts). Additional mileage over 300 miles per week reimbursed via expense report. * Overtime available but not required. Work Environment Residential homes of all types-professionalism is key. Expect to work in attics, crawl spaces, and around pets or children. Dress code is navy khakis and company polo. No visible tattoos or piercings. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rocky Hill, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
