The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Warehouse (incoming deliveries) - receives and unloads part deliveries from suppliers as they are delivered. Uses the paperwork supplied at the time of receipt, verifies the count and correctness of the part deliveries against packing lists and purchase orders; inspects and signs the delivery paperwork indicating the correctness, damage, or shortages being delivered. Records the delivery in the material management database.
Warehouse (outgoing shipments) - prepares parts for shipment. Loads the parts onto the proper vehicle picking up the parts, gets the carrier to take possession of the parts being shipped (bill of lading) and returns the paperwork to Accounting Specialists.
Putting away parts - after receiving material on the receiving dock and verifying its accuracy, the Storekeeper is responsible for relocating (put-away) the parts to their designated inventory location where the parts can be stored for future use. Records the put-away in the material management database.
Transferring parts - coordinates and facilitates transfers of parts between warehouses/storerooms based on requests between the warehouse/storerooms. Records the part movement (transfer or receipt of transfer) in the material management database.
Supplying parts to customers - fills all parts requests at the storeroom window and records the transaction in the material management database. Requests parts not in stock to be procured, and handles returns of parts to the warehouse/storeroom. Records part movement at the warehouse/storeroom window in the material management database.
Performs filing and record keeping; may operate office equipment; may operate forklift, medium size trucks and buses.
Oversees and assists crew members as team leader making sure requests/special projects assignments are completed safely and efficiently by established deadlines or achieve goals; meets with crew about upcoming projects and events per preschedule meetings.
Coordinates with other Storeroom personnel the daily operational activities each shift performs internally and with external groups. The Storekeeper is responsible for the general housekeeping activities of the warehouse/storeroom.
Performs inventory counts as needed.
Maintains a safe place to work and safe working conditions.
Performs related work as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
