We are seeking a Project Accountant who will play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and transparency across our projects. Position Summary The Project Accountant will oversee project financials from initiation through closeout. This role ensures accurate billing, contract compliance, and timely reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and trusted by both internal teams and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
- Project Kickoff & Setup
- Establish project files and documentation.
- Register projects on required platforms (e.g., Autodesk, GC Pay, Procore).
- Set internal timelines and budgets for administration and billing.
- Deliverable: Complete project setup package including registration confirmation, internal budget, and timeline.
- Project Billing & Documentation
- Prepare, review, and submit monthly project billings and pay applications.
- Coordinate billing of change orders directly with Project Managers to ensure accuracy and timely submission.
- Track retainage, lien waivers, and billing adjustments.
- Collect and submit waivers from suppliers and subcontractors to maintain compliance and protect company interests.
- Deliverable: Accurate monthly billing package, including coordinated change order billing and waiver submissions, delivered to clients and project managers.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and profitability.
- Provide variance analysis and forecasts to leadership.
- Deliverable: Weekly project financial report with variance explanations delivered to leadership and project managers.
- Contract & Compliance Management
- Ensure adherence to contract terms, insurance requirements, and compliance standards.
- Maintain certificates of insurance and subcontractor documentation.
- Deliverable: Compliance checklist completed and updated for each project.
- Timekeeping Administration
- Administer the company's timekeeping app for all employees, ensuring accurate entry, approvals, and reporting.
- Provide support and training to staff on timekeeping procedures.
- Deliverable: Weekly timekeeping report reconciled with payroll and project billing.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Collaborate with project managers, leadership, and clients to resolve billing or schedule issues.
- Deliverable: Clear, documented communication log of financial discussions and resolutions.
- Closeout & Audit Support
- Assist with project closeout, reconciliations, and audit preparation.
- Deliverable: Final project financial reconciliation package.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or contracting.
- Strong knowledge of project billing, contracts, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to build trust with internal teams and external clients.

Location: Southern Colorado Front Range Salary: $75,000 and $90,000 annually
