The School of Arts and Sciences ( SAS) at Rutgers University is the largest academic unit of the University and is comprised of 41 academic departments spanning humanities, social, physical and life sciences and over 100 different majors, plus programs, centers, bureaus and institutes. SAS has a membership of over 2,000 permanent and temporary faculty (instructional and research), teaching and graduate assistants, part-time lecturers, and post-doctoral appointees, and over 500 administrative staff.

Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Unit Administrator for the School of Arts and Sciences ( SAS) in New Brunswick, NJ. This position will collaborate with all levels of staff inside and outside of both the Chemistry and Chemical Biology department and Pharmaceutics department.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Provides administrative support including but not limited to calendar management, processing reimbursements, purchasing for the office and laboratory, setting up teleconferences, taking meeting minutes, following up on action items, reserving space for meetings/events.
  • Manages social media accounts and update departmental websites.
  • Provides event planning and support.

FLSA Nonexempt
Salary Details $20 - $30/hourly

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle or other dependable means of transportation.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to compose complex emails.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with tact and professionalism in person and via email.
  • Knowledge/skills using Microsoft office platforms including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook calendar.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years relevant experience in an administrative function. Familiarity with Google Calendar, Rutgers Marketplace, Canvas, Concur.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Position requires occasional travel to visit other campuses.
  • University bus system can be utilized.

Special Conditions
  • Ability to have a flexible work schedule as hours for the department may vary week to week.
