Our unit cares for neonates from as early as 24 weeks gestation through full-term infants with complex congenital anomalies, providing comprehensive services such as immediate post-birth care, therapeutic hypothermia, and high-frequency oscillatory ventilation. Additionally, our NICU is a vital part of the Maryland Regional Neonatal Transport Team, ensuring rapid and safe ground and air transportation for our tiniest patients.

Fellowship Details:

The Johns Hopkins Hospital Neonatal RN Fellowship Program is a customized 16-week competency-driven, immersive clinical and educational experience. The goal of this program is focused on providing professional nurses with a minimum of one year of practice with the adult or pediatric population to pursue their desire to become a Neonatal ICU nurse. This program will teach the participant everything needed to become a successful pediatric nurse. Participants will work closely with coordinators, unit educators, clinical experts, preceptors, faculty, and multidisciplinary team members. Courses are designed around a blended-learning curriculum, which combines a variety of teaching methods including: Web-based learning, lectures, skills practice, case studies, reflective practice, simulation, and clinical immersion with preceptorship. All course work and part of precepted time will occur during daytime hours prior to transitioning to permanent rotating shift. This structured curriculum approach allows the participants to transition from adult care or pediatric care while they are receiving support in their professional growth. This program provides emotional, psychosocial, and environmental support in an individualized manner for each participant.
