Overview
About the Role The Loan Processor Capital Market & Syndication Officer is responsible for performing the end-to-end processing and closing of complex loan transactions, primarily focused on Capital Markets, Syndicated Loans, and Structured Commercial Lending. This position executes established procedures to ensure accurate documentation, compliance with approvals, and timely coordination among external counsel, agent banks, and internal stakeholders. The role ensures all requirements are completed in accordance with approved terms, regulatory standards, and bank policies. Key responsibilities include following detailed checklists, verifying documentation accuracy, coordinating funding logistics, and supporting compliance activities to mitigate operational and credit risk. This position operates within defined guidelines and processes to deliver accurate and timely loan closings. What You'll Do:
Reviews approved credit packages for Capital Markets, Syndicated, and other complex commercial loans, and follows established procedures to collect all requirements necessary to close the loan per the credit approval and applicable closing checklists. This includes Term Sheet letters, legal and collateral documentation, appraisals, title work, insurance, payoff statements, compliance items, and other required due diligence materials.
- Coordinates with external legal counsel, agent banks, and internal stakeholders to facilitate the preparation and review of loan documentation. Ensures timely and accurate communication of loan terms, conditions, and required approvals across all involved parties in accordance with defined processes.
- Reviews draft loan documentation prepared by outside counsel to confirm alignment with credit approvals and that all non-legal closing conditions are satisfied. Verifies closing statements, disbursement schedules, and funding instructions against established guidelines to ensure proper application of loan proceeds and bank fees.
- Coordinates closing and funding activities by following regulatory, legal, and bank policy requirements. Monitors the flow of documents, signatures, and approvals throughout the closing process, and ensures all Loan Operations post-closing deliverables are properly documented.
- Serves as liaison for closing-related inquiries from Relationship Managers, Capital Markets Officers, Legal, Risk, and Operations teams. Escalates issues according to established procedures.
- Ensures all loans are closed with the appropriate insurance coverage as required by CNB Policies and Procedures, including calculation and verification of insurance requirements for all types of insurance, with particular attention to Flood Insurance, which is highly regulated. Coordinates with borrowers and insurance providers to obtain and verify compliant coverage prior to closing and escalates to Credit Risk as needed.
- Confirms required waivers are in place and verifies that loan proceeds are properly disbursed in accordance with approved instructions.
- Prepares the Loan Input Sheet and coordinates with the Servicing team on any nonstandard loan terms to ensure accurate data entry. Ensures Loan Input Sheets are complete and accurate.
- Performs administrative tasks related to the loan relationship, including handling inquiries from Relationship Managers and managing compliance requirements with respect to flood regulations.
- Distributes compliance-related updates to the department as instructed and maintains awareness of applicable requirements.
- Serves as liaison with other departments to resolve operational issues within established guidelines.
- Supports training and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team by providing information on Capital Markets and Syndicated deal processes, systems, and compliance expectations as directed.
- Maintains reports and tracking tools for pipeline visibility, closing status, and outstanding documentation or post-closing conditions.
- Processes revolving line of credit advances and paydowns based on pre-approved loan documentation and/or advance requests and corresponding general ledger account entries related to loan closings.
- Assists as needed in the closing and funding of other types of loans such as Commercial, Real Estate, and Consumer loans.
- Maintains awareness of industry standards, compliance updates, and bank policy changes that impact specialized loan closings and servicing activities.
Qualifications
What You Bring
- 5-7 years proven experience in the documentation and closing of complex Commercial, Real Estate, Capital Markets, and Syndicated loans, including thorough knowledge of loan closing requirements, loan accounting, and regulatory compliance impacting the closing process.
- Working knowledge of complex commercial, syndicated, capital markets, and mortgage loan structures and documentation, including regulatory and compliance requirements specific to these loan types.
- Knowledge of loan portfolio insurance requirements, including the calculation, verification, and management of insurance coverage such as Flood Insurance in compliance with regulatory and bank policies.
- Understanding of loan accounting principles and issues relevant to complex loan transactions and closings.
- Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and complete assignments accurately within established timelines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word, with the ability to prepare reports, track loan status, and communicate effectively.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with a thorough approach to verifying and double-checking work to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
- Organizational and time management skills to manage multiple loan closings and tasks under tight deadlines.
- Ability to follow established procedures and complete tasks accurately while maintaining a strong team orientation and positive attitude.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate information with attorneys, agent banks, internal stakeholders, and borrowers to support smooth loan closings.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
