Moog's Military Aircraft Group has an immediate opening for aProcess Manager for the Assembly & Test department on our growing Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for overall sub-process performance (quality, schedule, and efficiency) by managing resources, budgets and assets in coordinating process improvement initiatives. Reporting to our Site Operations Director, you will have a 9/80 schedule option and work on-site at our aerospace plant in Torrance, CA.

Moog's Military Aircraft Group is a global leader in designing primary and secondary flight control actuation systems (FCAS) for military aircraft. As a Process Manager, you will...

  • Process Management: Lead team activities, monitoring performance metrics and balancing headcount vs. workload to achieve optimum process efficiencies. Work within the confines of capital and expense budgets to maximize capabilities and meet performance objectives. This includes being proactive in identifying issues and problems and initiating process improvement projects or alternative direction to minimize potential impacts.

  • Tactical Planning: Develop tactical plans to achieve strategic objectives.

  • Leadership: Lead, motivate and direct the Process Teams in achieving objectives.

  • Resource Allocation and Use: Coordinate personnel moves, facilities and equipment utilization, determines team size and make-up and defines resource needs on a daily basis.

  • Personnel Development: Ensure the advancement of technical knowledge & skills within the sub-process. Provide employee and team performance feedback for immediate recognition and for year-end performance reviews. Assist in planning for and developing the skill base and knowledge necessary to build a broadly flexible workforce necessary to perform process-based work.

  • Team Building: Foster an environment of mutual trust & support between team members by encouraging employee participation and building team unity. Provide immediate feedback on performance, roles and responsibilities of team members. Ensures team goals are clear and utilizes facilitative leadership skills to effectively deal with daily issues. Encourages knowledge sharing across teams and sub-processes.

  • Communication: Effectively communicate, through a variety of media, information necessary for employees to make informed decisions. Clearly defines group strategies, initiatives and objectives to cultivate employees' thought processes and actions in alignment with organizational goals.

  • Moxie: Deal with multiple complex issues of varying degrees of difficulty simultaneously while maintaining a positive outlook. Creative and resourceful in resolving problems and effectively uses influence and persuasion to engage others in support of accomplishing goals.

  • Administration & Safety:Set guidelines for team and process operation. Proactively search out safety concerns and implement corrective actions to assure a safe working environment in and around the sub-process boundaries.

To be considered for the role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's Degreebusiness or technical discipline

  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in progressive manufacturing operations in relevant industry (Aerospace) experience is highly desirable

  • Leadership/supervisory experience:

  • Strong process leadership and relationship-building skills with both internal and external customers.

  • Demonstrated success in leading change, managing ambiguity, and influencing others to achieve successful outcomes.

  • The ability to develop and execute strategic objectives by aligning, challenging, and partnering across all functions, sites, and divisions.

  • Demonstrated business and technical acumen, with the ability to engage the right organizational resources to resolve customer problems efficiently.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, as well as excellent communication abilities at all levels, both internally and externally.

  • Experience in budgeting and cost control management.

  • The ability to influence all functions across the Military Aircraft Group that impact operations.

It'd be great if you also had:

  • MBA Degreea plus

  • Experience implementing and managing Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing programs

  • Project Management experience

  • Familiarity with SQL, Access databases, and data analysis

  • Proven track record delivering process improvement results

  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-based skills; ability to influence

  • Leadership education or training

  • Experience working in the aerospace industry

  • Experience with SAP

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $130,000.00-$180,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
