Professional Summary The Healthcare Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the full cycle of billing and accounts receivable processes within a healthcare setting. This role requires experience in billing and revenue cycle management, with the ability to quickly adapt and contribute to the team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of resolving claim denials, ensuring timely collections, and supporting process improvements to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities * Submit approved claims for processing and ensure proper acceptance through billing and EMR systems. * Research, resolve, and resubmit denied claims; interpret explanations of benefits (EOBs) from insurance carriers. * Take timely and routine action to collect unpaid claims and resolve disputed balances. * Collaborate with office staff to identify and resolve issues that may cause claim rejections or delays. * Compile and re-submit claims based on data provided by clinical and office staff. * Review initial claim scrub and validate claims before submission to clearinghouses or payers. * Employ effective billing techniques to resolve edits, denials, and appeals as necessary. * Investigate claims on accounts receivable (AR) reports for assigned office locations. * Conduct monthly variance reviews to ensure accuracy of revenue collection. * Assist management and education teams in training staff on billing, collections, and denial resolution techniques. * Provide professional customer service support to callers, transferring calls when appropriate. * Communicate with supervisors regarding compliance, billing issues, and AR trends. * Collaborate with revenue cycle management (RCM) teams to improve processes and implement best practices. Qualifications * Minimum 1 year of billing, revenue cycle, or accounts receivable experience in a healthcare setting. * Strong accounts receivable and collections skills. * Customer service experience (preferred). * Self-motivated with the ability to manage tasks independently and efficiently. * Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications. * Experience with medical payment posting and accounts receivable processes. * Working knowledge of EMR and billing systems. * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. * Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woods Cross, UT. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
