Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has an exciting opportunity available for a part time / on-call Transportation Engineer position located in and around Richmond, VA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, design, and assist with managing tasks for engineering projects
  • Prepare engineering and design documents, computations and quantity estimates
  • Prepare, analyze and/or modify reports, specifications, plans, schedules, studies, permits, and designs for projects
  • Develop probable construction cost estimates for projects
  • Prepare and monitor budgets for specific tasks within assigned projects
  • Perform quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual
  • Responsible for timely completion of specific tasks within assigned projects
  • Attend client meetings
  • Visit project sites to monitor progress
  • Handle routine construction administration
  • Assist in client contact and communications pertaining to specific projects
  • Serve as a technical resource and provide technical guidance to staff in areas of expertise

A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required.

Successful candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience
  • PE Required

Ideal candidates will have any/all of the following:

  • Good communication, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage internal relationships
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, trigonometry and financial functions
