We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Fire Protection Technician to join our life safety team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire suppression and signaling systems. You are the first line of defense in ensuring our clients' facilities are compliant and their occupants are safe.

  • Inspections & Testing: Perform routine inspections and functional testing of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and backflow preventers in accordance with NFPA standards.

  • Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose malfunctions and perform necessary repairs on fire panels, smoke detectors, pull stations, and suppression systems.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate digital records of all inspections, service reports, and deficiency findings to ensure client compliance with local fire codes.

  • Emergency Response: Participate in an on-call rotation to address emergency system failures or fire watch requirements.

  • Customer Service: Act as a technical consultant for clients, explaining system operations and recommending necessary upgrades or repairs.

Other Responsibilities

  • Recommends materials or equipment such as structural components protection, fire detection equipment, alarm systems, fire extinguishing devices and systems, and advises on location, handling, installation, and maintenance.

  • Picks up and delivers fire extinguishers to customers after repairs or testing have been completed.

  • Maintains adequate stock levels at customers locations.

  • Solicits new or additional products or services.

  • Maintains safe, well stocked company vehicles.

  • Certifications: NICET Level I or II in Fire Alarm Systems or Water-Based Systems (preferred/required).

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) and NFPA 25 (Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems).

  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Clean Record: Must possess a valid driver's license and pass a background check (essential for entering high-security client sites).

  • Tool Proficiency: Experience using multimeters, pipe wrenches, and specialized diagnostic software.

  • Prefer, but not required, one year certificate from college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must posses a valid state driver's license.

  • Prefer, but not required, certification in Fire Extinguisher and Ansul R102 Hood Fire Suppression System.
