Tectonic is currently seeking a Lab Technician to join our team in Newburgh, NY!


This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in construction materials testing to learn in a hands-on technical environment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Setting up, calibrating, and operating laboratory equipment and instruments required to perform concrete, soils, asphalt, and/or other related construction materials testing;
  • Collection, setup, testing, and disposal of construction materials in accordance with industry standards and techniques;
  • Reviewing and understanding testing requirements in accordance with the applicable code, approved plans, and specifications;
  • Processing relevant reports regarding testing and samples of construction materials;
  • Communicating with supervisors, colleagues, and other individuals as needed;
  • All other related duties in order to assist with the effective functioning of the lab; may perform field assignments on occasion as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • High School Diploma required; prior laboratory or construction materials testing experience preferred;
  • Ability to acquire relevant ACI certifications within a reasonable time period;
  • Ability to complete OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety and Health Training within a reasonable time period;
  • Basic understanding or the ability to learn relevant testing and inspection processes, procedures, and codes.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in testing and documentation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills;


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


While performing the essential functions of this position, it is frequently necessary to:


  • Assume a stationary position,
  • Handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job;
  • Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients using Company email and telephone systems;
  • Move around on the job-site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning oneself appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, usually for prolonged periods of time,
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. for some types of monitoring and inspections,
  • Good visual skills, including focused depth perception.


Employees may also be required to undergo substance abuse testing in accordance with project requirements, US DOT Regulations, and/or Company policy. The employee may occasionally be required to operate a computer, as well as other related office machinery, such as calculators, printers, and copy machines. The physical demands described above are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. PAY RANGE


Tectonic's goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitably across all positions Companywide. Our advertised pay ranges are representative of our good faith effort to provide a reasonable anticipated salary range. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate's work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position.


Pay Range: $22.00-$26.00 / hour
