Overview

The Field Engineer will be responsible for the overall planning, organizing, scheduling and controlling the safe, timely, and efficient operation of the Field Engineering section. Responsible for reviewing layouts for constructibility, direct interaction with constructing organizations and contractors to determine construction of drawn layout, resolve issues related to construction and interference and coordinate with outside agencies when necessary to ensure work will be completed as designed. Provides technical counsel and guidance in all matters related to construction standards. Ensure construction is completed by constructing organizations as per procedure. Assist Gas Operations and Construction Management- Gas with engineering support as needed.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop, prepare business plans, goals, master plan, rate case items and work with Project Management, Work Management, FP&A and constructing organizations to complete work.
  • Analyze trends and information and make recommendations from own or others programs to determine overall effectiveness and the need to modify, add, or delete programs.
  • Prepare and revise Company specifications in conformance with PSC, DOT, OSHA and other laws and regulations.
  • Provide interpretation of specifications and codes. Supports R&D projects and industry developments associated with gas construction, distribution and maintenance.
  • Provide engineering guidance to field personnel in any area or department and acts as Company representative when dealing with external organizations and agencies.
  • Write technical reports and conduct technical presentations to all levels of management.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering and 3 years' of engineering work experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering
Relevant Work Experience
  • 3 years' of engineering or other gas related experience. Required
  • At least one year of management experience in engineering, construction or other operations area. Required
Skills and Abilities
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Physical Demands
  • Must respond to system emergencies
  • Must work at field locations in all weather conditions
  • Must climb ladders and stairs
  • Must work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Must climb in and out of manholes and excavations
  • Must stand, walk, and climb ladder and stairs for a whole shift
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must travel to Company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies.
