Overview

We are seeking a Medical Surgical Clinical RN Supervisor, sometimes referred to as our Med Surg Clinical Nurse Supervisor or Med Surg Clinical House Supervisor. The Medical Surgical Clinical RN Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating activities on the Med-Surg unit to promote high-quality, patient-centered care. The Med Surg RN Supervisor will direct staff assignments, oversee patient admissions and discharges, and guide nursing teams in delivering best practices while upholding all hospital and regulatory requirements.

Employment Type: Full-time

Hours: 8 hour shifts

Location: Harlingen Medical Center - Harlingen, Texas

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

    Supervise daily operations of the Medical-Surgical unit to ensure safe, efficient patient care delivery
  • Assign and adjust nursing staff based on patient acuity, census, and skill mix
  • Provide clinical oversight, guidance, and support to Med-Surg nurses during shifts
  • Monitor patient flow, including admissions, transfers, and discharges, to optimize bed utilization
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practices
  • Serve as primary liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and ancillary departments
  • Respond to emergencies, oversees incident reporting, and participates in quality improvement initiatives


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN License
2. Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
3. Current ACLS (AHA) 30 days upon of hire and maintain current.
4. Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. RN-C within 2 years of hire preferred.
5. PALS within 30 days of hire for units that admit pediatric patients
