National Grid is hiring a Senior Program Manager, Emergency Planning for Massachusetts. This is a Onsite Role - Must live within a commutable distance to Northboro, MA.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Manager, Emergency Planning NE Gas, the successful candidate will guide teams of business users in the implementation of established Emergency Planning processes and implement changes to improve response and management of emergency and storm events across the New England gas business in a successful manner.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide support for large-scale, real-time National Grid emergency events in an Emergency Planning capacity that supports the Emergency Response Organization
- Translate New England Emergency Planning policy into processes and procedures that drive greater quality and awareness for National Grid, ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations and internal standards and developing a culture of emergency preparedness
- Work collaboratively in the development and execution of exercises and coordination of planning sessions that include Company personnel and Federal, State, County and/or Municipal agency response organizations
- Work collaboratively in the development of Emergency Response Plan training needs assessment and delivery of annual training to employees holding Gas Emergency Response Organization responsibilities
- Support the development of improved end-to-end processes, validating/testing, exercising and executing processes when needed, to improve efficiency, effectiveness and compliance
- Support the benchmarking and improvement of Gas Emergency Response Plans, Mutual Assistance Policy, Extreme Weather Plan, and other supporting program documents to maintain the local emergency planning capability and enhance safety, compliance and operability
- Support the safe, effective and coordinated National Grid mutual assistance response and service restoration for National Grid customers through collaborative interaction with NGA, SGA and AGA organizations that support member utilities
- Support of external agency requested collaborative meetings, exercises, program enhancements, and presentations pertaining to the National Grid Emergency Planning program
- Actively support incorporation of the Incident Command System for emergency response purposes throughout the gas organization and support organizations to build upon current knowledge and established programs
- Collaboratively work cross functionally with all EP Teams to support the greater EP&CIRM initiatives.
Supervisory/Interpersonal-Experience Required:
- Ability to network internally and externally to develop successful, long-lasting, supportive relationships/partnerships with others and seek understanding and challenge business scenarios to the benefit of all parties
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure that business units have adequate emergency preparedness
- Liaise across the business to ensure that strategic response and safety management is embedded within routine business activities, ensuring clear escalation of issues, when necessary
Qualifications
- Demonstrates the ability to apply and modify theories and learned concepts appropriately
- Experience with managing a project with moderate size, impact and scope similar to what would be implemented by a project team. Demonstrates the ability to perform specific actions that enable a team of individuals to function efficiently and effectively
- Understands the theory behind emergency management policies and processes and demonstrates the ability to challenge existing processes and ways of working
- Demonstrates the ability to anticipate obstacles and think ahead about next steps requiring implementation
- Demonstrates the ability to network internally and externally and to develop successful, long-lasting business relationships/partnerships with others and seeks to understand and challenge business scenarios to the benefit of all parties
- College degree in Engineering or Emergency Planning/Management or 2-4 years of commensurate work experience in emergency planning/management and/or gas utility experience preferred
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed, and in response to emergencies
- Valid driver's license required with acceptable driving record that meets National Grid's Safe Driver Policy
- Ability to work outside in extreme heat or cold in support of emergency operations
- Familiarity or completion of ICS courses preferred
Salary - $109,000 - $128,000 This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
