Position summary: The Civil Engineering Rotational Intern will participate in a variety of assignments across multiple disciplines designed to provide broad exposure to the field. The intern will apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings, develop professional skills, and explore different career paths within civil engineering. This program is designed for students who have not yet selected a specific focus area within engineering and are interested in exploring multiple paths. The hourly rate associated with this position is $21.00 - $26.00, which is based on education level. *Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.* Essential Functions and Responsibilities Assist senior or lead (architects, engineers, interior designers, project managers) with basic design tasks, including research, simple studies, and layout support Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, graphics, design development, and construction phases Support the creation of presentation and marketing materials Assist with construction phase activities, including participating in site visits, supporting RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and helping update record drawings Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands-on experience Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders Collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and other multidisciplinary team members Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities Perform other related duties as assigned Required Skills Familiarity in using standard Microsoft Office for document creation and email communication Ability to prepare well organized, clear, and concise written materials Ability to support work with attention to detail and creativity Developing presentation skills, including communicating ideas to different groups Ability to manage time and workload effectively with guidance from supervisors Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate well with others Required Experience Full time student, currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program and has not declared a focus Qualifications Preferred Rising sophomore or junior by Summer 2026 Coursework in a related field Previous internship or relevant work experience Familiarity with design and production software, with the ability to use these tools to develop project documents and collaborate with project team members Working Conditions Work is generally performed within an office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.
