GENERAL SUMMARY:

Leads cross-functional project teams to implement initiatives by developing project plans and management of all costs, tasks, issues, risks, schedules, and resources as per the project plan, while developing and maintaining a working relationship with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes. Provides agreed upon deliverable goals throughout the project life cycle.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:




  1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  2. *Provides successful leadership in the timely delivery of small to medium projects or specific tasks within a larger project from initiation through completion.
  3. *Defines project scope, goals, deliverables and success criteria. Monitors project progress and adjust plans as needed to stay on track.
  4. *Grows and maintains current knowledge of the healthcare industry, the organization's business, project management practices and project management methodologies.
  5. *Creates and manages project schedules with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure overall project success, emphasizing innovative solutions, value management, quality assurance, functional efficiency and client satisfaction.
  6. Adheres to internal project management best practices and Project Management Professional (PMP) methodology and procedures; learns, fully understands and uses all Bryan Health planning and implementation tools such as project management systems, cost benefit analysis, the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, quality assurance and control, and any other standardized approach developed to improve the course and outcome of projects.
  7. *Identifies the scope, goals, objectives, requirements and limitations of the projects.
  8. *Develops and implements quality improvement planning, measurement and improvement cycles related to projects as assigned.
  9. *Plans, executes and manages the tasks, phases and deliverables of the project based on the identified project goals and objectives; closes the project when completed and captures lessons learned.
  10. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  11. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
  12. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
  13. Leads cross-functional project teams to implement laboratory initiatives, including process improvement projects, equipment upgrades, evaluation, implementation and validation, and other compliance-related projects including regulatory updates and inspection readiness.
  14. Develops project plans and management of all costs, tasks, issues, risks, schedules, and resources as per the project plan, while developing and maintaining a working relationship with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure successful delivery of laboratory systems, workflows and regulatory compliance.
  15. Provides successful leadership in the timely delivery of laboratory-related projects.
  16. Maintains current knowledge of laboratory operations, regulatory standards, i.e., Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), and project management methodologies.
  17. Facilitates project completion across all health system laboratories to ensure standardization.
  18. Facilitates coordination and completion of initiatives requested by external departments and laboratory clients.
  19. Coordinates and collaborates on the root cause analyses (RCA) and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) processes.
  20. Collaboratively works with SMEs and laboratory leadership in the preparation, planning and participation of inspections conducted by and/or for regulatory agencies, including interim and off-sit inspections as needed.



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:




  1. Knowledge of system development life cycles and project methodologies.
  2. Knowledge of the structure and functions of a hospital/medical center system.
  3. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, medical staff, volunteers and ancillary departments.
  6. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills.
  7. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.
  8. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.
  9. Ability to analyze problems, identify needs/priorities/risks, manage change and implement effective work strategies.
  10. Ability to monitor project budget and predict buying/spending patterns in alignment with the medical center strategic objectives.
  11. Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and work effectively as a team member.
  12. Ability to coordinate multiple services and functions among staff in frequently high stress situations to achieve project goals.
  13. Ability to utilize knowledge of formal and informal organizational structures to escalate issues and facilitate effective decision making at optimal times.
  14. Ability to utilize leadership and teamwork skills to freely gain support and cooperation from coworkers throughout the organization and external vendors.
  15. Ability to manage the scope, time, cost, complexity and quality of projects.
  16. Ability to translate project purpose and vision into measurable, obtainable outcomes.
  17. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  18. Knowledge of clinical laboratory regulatory agency compliance standards and protocols.
  19. Knowledge of clinical laboratory technical applications and methodologies.
  20. Knowledge of quality improvement, budgetary and financial methods and practices.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical or biological science required. Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certification Maintenance (CM) certification required. Minimum of two (2) years clinical laboratory experience in high complexity testing required. Prior training, supervisory and customer service experience preferred.



OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Certifications in Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)
