Maintenance and Reliability Leader

Position Summary:

As Maintenance and Reliability Leader (MRL) for our client manufacturing plant in the Savannah, GA area, you will provide leadership and direction to the site maintenance function. The MRL is responsible for leading and sustaining a proactive safety culture for employees and contractors on site. The MRL leads and manages the effective use of all internal labor, materials, outside contractors, and support resources within the department. The maintenance function partners with Operations to provide production capacity, contributes to asset reliability, and the lowest life cycle cost.

The MRL is responsible for implementing and managing the maintenance and reliability structure, processes, and systems necessary to achieve and sustain the Maintenance and Reliability mission. Additionally, you will create a proactive reliability culture by developing people to value asset reliability, asset integrity, and life cycle asset management.

The MRL participates or leads specialty team(s) in support of overall site initiatives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Create and lead a zero injury work environment

    • Expectation: Ensure full EH&S compliance, continual improvement


  • Maintain plant assets to meet production requirements

    • Expectation: Execute work to repair equipment to like new or better condition
    • Expectation: Maintain plant equipment to high reliability standards


  • Develop employees within the maintenance department

    • Expectations: Improve knowledge and skills, lead employee engagement


  • Implement the overall Reliability Excellence process in coordination with the entire plant management team o Expectation: Ensure execution of the maintenance function is consistent with the defined Maintenance process from work identification to work closeout

    • Expectation: Ensure execution of the reliability engineering and planning functions are consistent with the defined Rx processes
    • Ensures effective use and integration of information technologies such as the CMMS, condition monitoring, and other technologies
    • Ensure the organization is trained in reliability (Rx) management


  • Own and implement the plant maintenance and reliability engineering measures and performance goals o Expectation: Ensure lagging and leading measures are in place and utilized

    • Expectation: Identify future improvement




Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Education: high school plus trade school with significant experience, and/or four-year technical degree with manufacturing, maintenance, and reliability experience.
  • Experience: maintenance, operation, and engineering in a production environment. Prior experience as a supervisor is required.
  • Knowledge: repair practices and craft skill requirements, general technical equipment, maintenance backlog management practices, preventative maintenance, and application of predictive maintenance / condition monitoring. General knowledge in the application and use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Training: leadership, continuous improvement, machinery management, and other applicable maintenance-specific training.
  • Certifications: CMRP, CFM, similar certification preferred.


Physical Demands and Expectations:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The associate is occasionally required to sit; climb stairs and/or ladders, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The associate must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    • Accounting

  • Site Maintenance budget
  • Employee training / engagement
  • Maintenance Schedule Capacity and Schedule Compliance
